I'm not sure what else to suggest at this point.  Perhaps, carefully
compare output of "setserial" on the laptop when the card is working,
with the output on the Zaurus.

Hmmm.  Maybe you were right about power being an issue.

The unfortunate thing is, it is really hard to debug problems with
very rare hardware combinations.
