Here's an update on the status of Linux on the 680 (and 620/660LX as well). This might be more info than you specifically asked for, but consider it to be a general status update for the entire list. For now, if you insist on running Linux at this moment, there's indeed the Dodes distribution. It is fairly old (2001-2002-ish) and it runs a 2.5.24 kernel. The best install instructions I found are at http://www.handhelds.org/z/wiki/HpJornada680 . I believe it has XFree packages, but they aren't of much use without a touchscreen driver, which isn't present in the kernel. I and a few other developers have been working at creating a new distribution for the 680/690 and 620LX/660LX machines. Thanks to the people on this list, quite good progress has been made to the kernel, 2.6.4 works with patches and I believe 2.6.5 builds from kernel.org source (although we haven't had a chance to test it, it did build fine). As for userland, gcc and/or glibc/uclibc seems to have some issues regarding sh3. I think we have a somewhat stable gcc/glibc toolchain which at least produces (presumably) stable static code, in a shared environment built with the same toolchain we're getting Illegal Instruction errors. Since we don't have extensive means of debugging for sh3, progress on userland has been fairly slow, but up on our site there are static packages for busybox and pcmcia-cs, which should get you a working basic test system with network connectivity. You can grab the files and monitor our progress at http://jlime.theinternet.nl . Progress is a bit slow at the moment, there are only 2 of us working on it (with some help from others) and we don't have much time. We are however persistent and won't rest before we get Linux running on this neat little machine. I don't know anything about korganizer, so I can't tell you if it will sync. I am not sure if korganizer supports Windows CE at all, but if it does, it will likely support the 680 as well. Maybe we can make it sync when we get our distro running, but I can't make any promises.
