That is the most common video mode, and definitely works here.

There isn't an official RIGHT version and WRONG version. It *should* work
if compiled on RH 7.1.  Try a newer version of linux if possible -
anything OTHER than gentoo, as that has other problems with gcc - gentoo
propeller-heads with any ideas as to the cause of this, please help!

Yes, the latest cromwell code in CVS supports 1.6.
