Re: alsa on 2.6 kernels, spdif patch

This later patch seems to be working just fine. ( I did not test the earlier patch )
At least Dolby Digital Canyon . vob is playing nicely with

mplayer -ac hwac3

Tho there seems to be some quality problems (most likely in the original also).
- - When using play->pause->play->pause->play i get big "scratch" sound every time playback starts
again. (Maybe this is what original author has named as "crack, snack and pop" =D )

- - Due my extension cable for SCART and spdif, there goes also stereo sound into the TV (This is what
I used before) but using spdif this channel has only noise. This is not an actual problem but if i
accidently set my AV Amplifier to receive sound from TV (xbox scart->tv->rca out->AV ) I get really
loud noise coming from speakers ( my ears pops out ). Could there be a way to disable it somehow
when spdif is detected? If not, I will just cut the wires inside the scart =D

About the patch.
I would like to suggest to change the path in patch to for example
pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c
pci/intel8x0.c
instead of alsa-driver-1.0.5/alsa-kernel/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c ...
because then you would just need to go to the /iextractedmyalsa/alsa-kernel or /usr/scr/linux/sound
if using 2.6 kernel (with build in alsa 1.0.5 like the one coming from gentoo xbox-sources )
But naturally this makes no difference if person patching knows anything about how to patch.
Or just patch the CVS source directly?

Anyway... It is alive, alive!
