Hi everyone,

I noticed that people are discussing the 2.6 kernel IR driver on the
xbox-user mailing list, and that some seem to be unaware of its
existence. Running over to xbox-linux led me to
http://cvs.xbox-linux.org/viewcvs.py/xbox-linux/lirc/ with the
sarcastic comment (I quote) from Thomas Pedley (Shallax):

"The stuff Gentoo never bothered to give to us.

LIRC-0.7.0 Xbox patch - thanks, Gentoo, for giving back to the Xbox-Linux
project."

This driver, which was written by myself before I had anything to do
with Gentoo, was posted on the xbox-linux-devel mailing list around
April 2004. It certainly wasn't a secret, and the source code was
always available...

Also, please don't donate money to Shallax in the belief that you are
helping to support Gentoo. The Gentoo Foundation and the people that
actually contribute Xbox livecds, ebuilds and documentation (like Ed
Hucek, Sean Covel, Tim Dodge etc.) receive nothing from your
donations.

Thanks for listening,

Chris
