weird... judging from the headers and the timing, i'd guess paul's computer
sent this email out as From: me, for some reason. in any case, please
don't blame me or my computer :)

Hello Andrew -

I don't see any reason why Xbox-Linux/Cromwell couldn't be modified to
support my simple partitioning mechanism. (and, I'm not sure what to call
it either: I introduced it along with the "LBA48" patches, but it really has
nothing to do with LBA48).

The Xbox program "Xbpartitioner" (I think that's the name - it's from the
developer of "Xbtool") also makes use of the partitioning table format I
devised (Xbpartitioner lets you make edits to the table - I never came up
with such a tool).

I don't know enough about Xbox-Linux/Cromwell to know how much work would be
involved - I believe the work would be very isolated and simple to
implement, though.

Subject: [Xbox-linux] LBA48 partitioning scheme

Hi, I was wondering why xbox linux does not support the "LBA48" partitioning
scheme designed by Paul Bartholomew (oz_paulb) (I'm at a loss to find a
better name for it). It would be useuful for me because then I could divide
up my 80Gb HDD sensibly between the xbox OS and linux.

Would anyone object to patches for it? I'd imagine it would be a patch to
cromwell and linux itself (since cromwell accesses the partitions raw - using
my code, I'm slightly amused to notice :) ).
