In order to modify the xbox sound volume, I ran alsaconfig (I promise, I
won't do it any more) and... no more sound... After investigations, I
found the module was not loaded properly so I recompiled a 2.4.32
kernel... Same problem.

so I compiled a 0.9.1 driver (without problem and the result is:

xebian:~# modprobe snd-intel8x0
Warning: ignoring xbox=1, no such parameter in this module
/lib/modules/2.4.32-xbox/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: init_module:
No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

and the syslog of "modprobe":

00:06.0 to 64
Jan 28 21:25:40 xebian kernel: ALSA

Jan 28 21:25:40 xebian kernel: Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy

So, my question is: In fact I think you already know my question... How
the hell can I make it work again?

PS: I compared the modules; modules.conf, /etc/modutils/alsa and
alsa-base with original (livefs file of the install CD) and there is no
difference.
