Hi Roger,

In the public forums, you very much tend to receive responses tailored
specifically to the question posed.

As best I can tell, your original question was a more generic question
regarding the CUPS configuration process. Postings in response have pointed
you towards a few reasons for some of the difficulty and how the community
as a whole is responding to improve the situation.

Your new question is much more specific. It seems to be that you own a
particular printer, had it working, made some changes to your existing
computing environment, and now magically the printer no longer works.

This would suggest that the change in computing environment also changed
something in the working filter chain to cause the new chain to not work. 

Where you have a GDI based printer, you will need to insure the correct CUPS
backend driver is installed, to develop this output format, and most likely
that a wrapper script to call the proper backend driver is in the correct
CUPS directory as well.

Question: Are you trying to use the Linux driver installation package
available from the Samsung web site to make your printer work correctly with
CUPS?
