Do you let a nearby unknown cellphone into your local network? mDNS 
works by default only in the same network.

And in case you don't want to use mDNS, you can still install the 
printer permanently via IPP port and get the options via IPP as AirPrint 
can do (however you lose the automatic installation...), so in that case 
the attacker would have to get into your network and find out printer's 
IP or hostname (because mDNS doesn't advertise anything).
