Let me put it this way, since any such access is not seen locally, it
only uses my bandwidth
as its fed directly to my circuit by way of the radio in my router. The
clue was my net bill
which for my use runs about 30G a month, and did not hit my limit which
is close to a TB
a month, but I noticed that it was up to around 80G a month. So I
finally found the pw and
logged into dd-wrt to find a strange lease so I bounced him. Back in 5
seconds, he had
some cracking thing on his cell so his traffic to net surf didn't show
on his cel bill.
I made a new 25 char pw, bounced him, back in 30 secs. So since I wasn't
actively using it,
I turned off the radio. I have one of those $100/yr cel phones, normally
turned off. I keep it
charged so it ready to go if I decide to goto to some kin of my wife for
a day or 2, something
I can yell for help with if my old ford runs into trouble. Suddenly I
couldn't keep it charged,
something was turning it on by remote without making a sound locally but
using up the battery.
I quit trying to keep it charged.

He was a mailman but is now in jail for non-delivery. they raided his
place and found half a
ton or more of undelivered mail, still in uspo carry bins in his garage.
So peace has returned
to my locale. But during his reign I had to turn of the radios in
everything here to keep him out.
At one point he was coming in thru the radio in the rpi4b I run my big
lathe with. Quite a game
of cat and mouse. In the last couple months I've added a couple rock64's
to the local net, to
run 3d printers with but I've not enabled either ones wifi. Much saner
life w/o it. So 100% of
my net is wired. No microphones plugged into any these machines either.
If some 3 letter
agency wants to hear what I think, let em bring the big truck, easier
target to hit.

Its options for instance, do not include the choice of which paper tray
to use, nor does it include using the
color trim options in the ppd. When Mike decides to support the printers
features, I might consider using
it his way. Until then . . .

I have an advantage over most of you, I've known Mike since the middle
80's. Long before cups.
