What appears to be happening is that the unknown colorspace results in=20
the input image being treated as the default of B&W, which throws off=20
all of the calculations for the amount of data that needs to be read.

I'm shocked this hasn't manifested until now; these colorspace tags were=20
added in CUPS 1.4.5 (late 2010).  As for how it's being triggered, your=20
print flow apparently is using Ghostscript which is rather unusual these=20
days.  Somewhere in its configuration (or possibly even hardcoded?) it=20
is set to default to specifying sRGB.
