Hi Chris, I sure recognise your name from the gentoo-dev list :-). I
wasn't sure where the problem was coming from and simply offered as much
possibly relevant info as possible.

there were the first few times. I ran pxesconfig a few times until it
finished with no errors then tried to boot from the remote machine.

I am unsure where the iniital initrd is built from. I can see it is
built in /tmp/pxes, but where is /tmp/pxes populated from on a fresh
install?
