If that means accessing the service tag or serial
number of the client PC/notebook, there is a program
called dmidecode.c that can be compiled static
and added to your image.

It is available from lots of places, but here is one:

ftp.softnet.tuc.gr/pub/linux/suse/people/ak/acpi/src/dmidecode.c

I went through the code and commented out all output until
it was only producing the service tag as output.

I found it worked well for Dell and IBM models I tried.

Similarly you can grab the MAC address from ifconfig
output and then you have the data you might need
for secure DHCP.
