Hi, First off, it doesn't matter where you or me are from. It's always a better idea to ask the mailing list. This is definitely an RTAI issue, so I'm forwarding your email to the mailing list in the hopes that somebody would have a better answer. Configuring the Linux kernel for RTAI is always tricky. I encouraged developers to gather their common knowledge [here]( https://github.com/ShabbyX/RTAI/wiki/Kernel-configuration), but there was not much participation. That said, I'm not aware of any script that would make the process automatic. As a matter of fact, configuring grub is the smallest of your problems. However, John Morris did something even better than the script. He built debian packages for RTAI ( http://mail.rtai.org/pipermail/rtai/2014-July/026437.html) which means all you need is an `apt-get` line and you are good to go (it takes care of grub too). The email is more than 2 years old, and I don't currently know if there is an updated version. Given that it was based on my repo on github, and that I haven't got around to updating it, I have a feeling the debian packages are also old. Still, they are a lot more up-to-date than your current setup. Hope this helps and best of luck, Shahbaz On Mon, Oct 10, 2016 at 11:32 AM, Aref Taidi <aref.taidi@newera-computing. com> wrote: > Dear Shahbaz, > > > > My Name is Aref Taidi and I am on the RTAI mailing list and have been > using RTAI since 2006! > > > > I have noticed you are quite active in the RTAI forum and apologise if my > email seems a bit intrusive but I thought it would be OK to talk to another > technical guy from Iran directly rather than posting it on the RTAI forum > as my problem may not be considered as an RTAI issue as you may agree from > reading below! > > > > As you can see I have been interested in RTAI for a few years but never > upgraded to later than 3.7.1 which my sound strange to you but reason for > this was the difficulty I have had building an RTAI machine that works the > first time! > > > > Initially I used the fedora distribution but then gave up as after my > first upgrade the display driver was not working so switched to openSUSE > and it has been running for several years now!
