I was trying to write a full documentation about RTAI kernel configuration
but unfortunately university duties comes and I wasn't able to finish it. I
will try to add some useful info on github later on November.

Just for Aref information, you can found the latest RTAI-patched
kernel+headers compiled for debian\ubuntu for 64 bit machines on my google
drive here :
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B4cNuGDFJQTsM1RBd0U0TFA4Nnc?usp=sharing
,
it should boot, but I cannot assure if it will boot on your machine since
I've disabled a lot of unneeded (for me) modules. However you can look at
the .config inside the package to get some insights for kernel
configuration.

Source package is also included so you can grab the latest cvs revision
from gna and you compile the latest revision of RTAI on yourself.

An idea I was thinking off was setting up opensuse build system to
automatically build packages for each new relase since it is able to build
for the majority of distribution. But first I need to figure out how OBS
works and how to write specfiles.
If you want to use debian you can take a look on sebastian Kuzminsky
packaging here
https://github.com/SebKuzminsky/linux-rtai-debian/tree/3.18.20-rtai/debian

It depends on how you compile you kernel. If you do make menuconfig, make
install and make modules install then you have to manually add rtai entries
to the grub file.
I'ts better to use your distribution kernel build system in order to
generate patched kernel packages.
For example, for debian\ubuntu after make menuconfig you can do make-kpkg
or make deb-pkg to generate debs. Once you installe these debs the grub2
entries will be automatically generated.
For opensuse the command is simply make rpm.
