It appears to be pretty much compatible with CentOs 6, at least in my platform (Intel ProBook - i5 core processor). Maybe it's worth a try. What I'd do if I were you, would be first of all to test the unpatched vanilla kernel, and if you're happy with it, apply RTAI patches. This makes much easier to tell apart what comes from kernel itself and what comes from subsequent patches.
