Also try to avoid using a generic CPU and configure with the one closest to yours. Be careful and set the number of CPUs in Linux equal to the true ones, no hyperthreading please. Use the very same number for RTAI. If you have just 1 CPU (UP) compile an UP kernel.

Paolo.

Subject: Re: [Rtai] System reboots with testsuite execution - rtai patch 4.1.18 (vulcano)

Dear Paolo,

I see differences in the config file of mine and the one mailed by you (Not sure what the differences mean, and there are pretty many differences...). I have attached the one I have used for quick reference to check. Also, the observation is that when I am inserting rtai_sched module, the system is rebooting. I have inserted rtai_hal module prior to this and no other rtai module apart from that.

I am yet to see, how to go ahead... as this image turns out useless to me with above problem.

NOTE:
I have checked that the modifications mentioned in rtai installation guide are matching in the one you mailed and the one am using. (eg: IPIPE, PREEMPT etc)

Thanks and regards,
Bhargav

Dear team,

I have downloaded kernel source linux-4.1.18 and patched with rtai from vulcano (http://cvs.gna.org/cvsweb/vulcano/?cvsroot=rtai). Then built new kernel and built rtai test suite. (On Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (kernel version 4.4.0-21-generic) installed on my DELL laptop)

You are working with the same environment I'm. I cannot but attach my Linux config file. It is for linux-4.4.43 but will work on 4.1.18 too.
Take into account that I've verified vulcano CVS for months, with all kernel patchable with it, i.e from 3.1031 to 4.4.43, and on 7 machines UP/SMP, with APIC and old style interrupts supports, from PIII to I7 CPUs.
Paolo.

My system reboots within seconds after running any of the tests in testsuite. I am executing the testsuite tests as mentioned in rtai-how to guide in rtai.org<http://rtai.org>.

Kindly guide, in case of any known issues or if I should debug to find out what is causing the issue. (I am new to kernel module debugging, and struggling on how to debug the testsuite examples, but request for inputs in case there is really any issue in my setup or I can go ahead working on my kernel modules)...

Thanks and Regards
Bhargav
