Hi Arvid,

this is of interest for me: why doesn't RTLinux run on a VMware 
system? 
If (what I had guessed) VMware simulates a fairly complete PC 
hardware, RTLinux shouldn't be aware of the difference.
How comes it, that it fails?

Yes, I agree that sense of it is dubious, because it's no realtime 
environment at all. 
Nevertheless it might make sense 
- for education purposes
- for debugging/evaluation situations
- bc. its normative character (the same conditions on any machine)
- bc. its "repeatable resume" mode, which makes it possible to restart 
a debugging session from exactly the same spot over and over again...
