espeakup errors

Hi. Finally I got linux working on a new harddrive. I'm very happy! I've got a problem. when I run espeakup I just get alsa errors. what can this be? Then I'm wondering if any of you use the testing version. I tried that before. then I got no sound, and I only got the message "screen reader on" on my braille display. then mate just didn't work. I removed that testing, and installed stable. then it worked.
