Hello! I've got a problem with 3C905-TX NIC in Intel SR870BN4 Server. vortex-diag says, there is a 3C920 Tornado NIC, but lspci says, there is a 3C905-TX. As far as I understand, these NICs are similar, and there is one driver for both: 3c59x. The driver (3c59x) loads fine, interface raises OK, but network does not work (ping, arping and so on). There are also Myrinet and embedded Gigabit (on Intel's chip) NICs in this server and they works fine. I've checked all the cabling, tried to move the NIC into other PCI (PCI-X) slots ... nothing helps. I've got no ideas what to do furthermore. Any help would be highly appreciated! CONFIGURATION: 1. Hardware: Intel SR870BN4 Server (actually, 4 of them) with 4 Itanium-2 1GHz CPUs, 3 Gigs of memory, 1 SCSI HDD. 2. Software: RedHat 7.2 for IA-64. Base kernel - 2.4.7 (or maybe 2.4.9 - I don't remember) works even worse - the driver does not fond a NIC at all. Tested kernels: (from kernel.org) 2.4.18, 2.4.23, 2.4.25 P.S. The upper LED on back panel of the NIC shines Red, but the inscription on back panel says just about Yellow - 10 Mbit/s and Green - 100 Mbit/s. Maybe this is a bad sign?
