 Yes, you can (for EL chroot):
Go to LTSP chroot:

su
cd /opt/ltsp/i386
setarch i386 chroot .
mount -t proc proc /proc

Update SL in Chroot:
yum update
yum clean all 
yum --releasever=6.3 update sl-release 
yum update
yum clean all

Install Generic SL kernel:
yum install kernel

That's all, now you have SL 6.3 latst kernel, and updated chroot.
