There are two aspects to this: firewall and xinetd/pop configuration.

The second is easy--look in /etc/xinet.d/pop3d, change "disabled" to
"no". Run /etc/init.d/xinetd restart. Pop mail access is now available
if you can get through the firewall setttings.

The firewall setttings are more difficult, and potentially more
dangerous to your home or business's security if you misconfigure them.
I've not found a truly good tutorial on the iptables firewall
technology that 8.0 includes--but this one
(http://iptables-tutorial.frozentux.net/) was highly recommended on one
of the other Redhat lists last week.
