Just wanted to share my experience with Piranha

Hi,

    I have been using piranha oh since about December of 2000.  I have 
been apart of this mailing list for the same amount of time.  Although I 
have never contributed to answering anything, its mostly because I have 
not had a single problem.

    Although I set this up using RedHat 7.1 and ended up having to build 
it myself, I have never once until today had to reboot, or restart these 
systems once.

    I do remeber that I did have a tuff time getting it started, and I 
installed all of the rpm's first and those didn't work, and then used my 
own build of the pulse and ipvsadm program which seemed to do the trick.  

    I am using pulse 1.52.  I use it to load balance 5 webservers in one 
configuration, 5 ftp servers in another configuration and 3 webservers 
in another configuration.  A year ago I removed the backup systems 
because I never used them and I felt it was a waste of machinery when 
the system ran so well.

    I am actually afraid to upgrade a system that seems to work so well 
for me as is so I will probably stay until with this config until I find 
a need to.

    Thank you for a great program.  I have been up and running since Dec 
4th, 2000 on one of my configurations.  The others have only been 
restarted because of shifting machinery around and other maintence tasks.

    I do have a question though, and I know I hate to ask this on such 
outdated builds, but the only reason I had to restart pulse today is 
that when I would run ipvsadm one of my webserver would always read the 
same ActiveConn and InActiveConn and would never send traffic over to 
that web server.  I restarted the pulse system a couple times and always 
read the same thing 1546 ActiveConn and 3546 InActivConn, number would 
never change, no matter what.  This problem went away by rebooting the 
machine, which was a shame because of the uptime it had Since Dec 1, 2000.
