Depending on your usage of piranha, the answer could be:
* automatically started on boot if lvs
* as you will if fos

For the later, piranha/fos is supposed to start/stop the service when it
becomes master/backup. When it does not matter to have the service
running on both nodes, I do prefer to have it running all the time,
piranha just being used to manage the VIP.

The physical (device) location of the service to start does not matter.
Piranha just need to know how to start and stop you wervice.
