Sign in as root, then use a text editor, edit the file
/etc/pam.d/kpp.conf
on the first line near the center, it says something like 'rootok' change it
to 'permit', logout then login as normal user.

Only change the first line from 'rootok' to 'permit' so that the 'permit'
line would look like 'pam_permit"
