Re: modem !!!!!!!!!

Appears you have a Winmodem (non Hardware type).  Do a Google search on winmodem to learn more.

Depending on your tenacity and skills, you may get it to work. 

There are two other solutions, easier and quicker.

1.  Get a PCI Hardware Modem such as a US Robotics 5610, 2977, or 2976 (if you want voice).

2.  Get an external modem.
