Why do you want to use a USB modem instead of a serial modem? Serial modem are better supported in linux. Example: US Robotics 56K v90 mod5630 (serial port) RUN under linux US Robotics 56K v90 mod5633 (USB port) DOESN'T RUN under linux They work at the same speed and the serial modem is easier to configure... If you agree with me, I recommend you US Robotics 56K v90 mod5630 (serial port)...
