Cannot login manually to PPP ISPs!

Hello folks

I want to use pppd to get on internet by calling my
ISPs. I made "pppd" use "chat" for login scripting,
but it failed. As far as I know, this login scripting
is a popular method in linux world for using ppp ISPs.

I decided to monitor what happens by getting connected
to the ISPs manually using a naive text terminal (I
used MS-Windows hyperterminal). I found the problem, I
could not login manually either! But why? If there is
no way to login in the text mode in some ISPs like
mine (and consequently no way for scripting), what
linux people do? 

Here I explain what happened, hoping there is a
solution for my case. I have two accounts from two
different ISPs, but none of them worked. When I get
connected to the first one, I have to press "ENTER"
key after establishment of connection so that the
following prompt appears:

Username: MY_USER_NAME_HERE
Password: MY_PASSWORD_HERE
Password:
% Authorization failed.

NO CARRIER

My password is all numerical, so there is no
upper/lower case problem. A part of my user name
contains alphabets all in uppercase (as written in my
internet card), but I tried both all uppercase and all
lowercase situations. In either case, I got the above
"authorization failed" error.

So I tested my other account which is from a different
ISP. When connected to this one, no prompt or readable
text appears, but some garbage. The garbage appears a
few seconds after establishment of the connection,
regardless of pressing or not-pressing any key such as
"ENTER".

Let me mention that both of the accounts work properly
with windows dialup networking (ppp). The problem
arises only when I want to enter my login/password in
text terminal, not through window's ppp protocol or
handshaking.
