How to configure network ?

I want to connect to the Internet by my ADSL MODEM. I tried graphically and 
it works. But something is wrong in my text mode connection setup. Probably, 
system-config-network-tui is not the right tool to configure ADSL. So I used 
adsl-setup. When setup is done I have executed `ifup ppp0`. It probably did 
not work (no error is shown and takes long time to execute). I also tried 
adsl-connect command. The result is same. What is wrong ??
[I am using Fedora core 4. My ISP supports dynamic IP address.]
