Your right... I meant /... this is the root partition correct? Look what df -H gives me after I tried to mount / onto a new partition with lots of free space: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hda2 1.6G 1.6G 0 100% / /dev/hda1 50M 6.2M 41M 13% /boot none 263M 0 262M 0% /dev/shm /dev/hdb2 2.9G 34M 2.7G 2% /oracle /dev/hdb4 6.6G 3.6G 2.6G 58% /backup /dev/hdb4 6.6G 3.6G 2.6G 58% /pub /dev/hdb3 2.9G 34M 2.7G 2% /oradata /dev/hdb4 6.6G 3.6G 2.6G 58% /tmp /dev/cdrom 678M 678M 0 100% /mnt/cdrom /dev/hdb1 1.6G 1.6G 0 100% / If deleting files now but I can say right now that /dev/hdb1 is empty.. What is going on here? Is increasing the / partition the only way to create space for more packages? I think I may have screwed something up... john -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steven W. I assume you are using a <CR> drive because your slash was pointed the wrong way. If in fact you were talking about your root filesystem, you probably meant / instead of \. :-) Either way, you need to remove something from that filesystem. -- -Time flies like the wind.
