Re: How do I enable Telnet??

Firstly I would like to thank all who answered this question for me. I now know of two ways to start telnet. 
Most of all, especially for newbies like me, if you can give a bit of explaination (teaching us to fish :-) ) I will greatly apreciate it. I spent hours researchin on this but came to naught, apparently I thought /etc/services was the problem and again the machine does not have the inetd.conf.
Is that normal???
one more question how do I check what port is open e.g. the telnet port
