If you switch from AMD to Intel, or vice versa, you may have problems 
but most likely only on applications you compiled from source. I just 
upgraded a box from an athlon 500mHz to an AthlonXP 2100+ and it runs 
fine and the box is 100% compiled from source (Gentoo 1.4-r3)
