upgrading stock kernel using up2date

I am currently trying to upgrade the kernel on a dell dimensions  2550 with 
3SCSI disks running hardware raid 5. The seems to be some qla2x00 module that 
the kernel either need s or is trying to upgrade but cannot find. If I do a 
force install on the kernel it installs but I get a kernel panic when I try 
to boot into the new kernel. The kernel panic occurs when it tries to load 
sda6 which is the extended partition.

The output of my lsmod is below. Any help is appreciated.
I will happily give more information is asked to do so.
