Stew, it is unwise to experiment on the live Internet with a nameserver.
It could piss off people he should be cultivating rather than alienating.
He is quite right to ask first.

I don't claim to be a DNS GURUess, however, I have managed to not leak
my internal net onto the Internet often enough to receive angry email
about it. And I have, at times, had multiple internal networks as well
as the external Internet connection all happy together at the same time
with the internal net never visible to the Internet.

(If I am wrong in that respect and somebody HAS been irritated PLEASE
let me know. BIND changes often enough I might have had a problem creep
into my configuration. But I think not.)
