Server Crash - help please

Hi all,

   I've got a server here that seemed to lock up - unknown as to why at this
point.  So, I attempted a restart (hard restart) and now it won't come up at
all.  Stops directly after it says "setting hostname zzz.zzzzz.com"

   I've tried the CD, tried rescue, but says there are no linux partitions
on it.  Tried the CD again, went to upgrade, but says again, there are no
linux partitions.

   Anyone run into this, and if so, is there an easy fix besides a complete
whipeout and reinstall?
