mqueue

Hi there,
Our mail server is Redhat Linux. Recently the number of
messages in /var/spool/mqueue is bigger and bigger even
though most of them is 0 bytes, and the number of sendmail
processes is also growing fast, once it reaches about 510,
we could not send email.
Could anybody tell me the reason and how to fix it?
