Hi,

I am trying to get to a windows share on
a Win2K box on our network using smbclient.
When I try the machine name I get:

$ smbclient //machinename/username
added interface ip=myip bcast=mybcast nmask=mynmask
Connection to morpheus failed

where of course the ip, bcast and nmask are valid numbers,
i just hid them for security sake (??!! i'm a newbie, i don't
know if this is neccessary.)

then if i try using the IP address directly I get

$ smbclient //123.456.789.876/username
added interface ip=myip bcast=mybcast nmask=mynmask
session request to 123.456.789.876 failed (Called name not present)
session request to 123 failed (Called name not present)
Password:

and I can successfully log in. For the life of me I can't
figure out what is happening on the win2k end that won't
let me say the machine name directly.

Help?

Thanks
jgw
