Could be.  First check your logs to see if you're getting to you linux box.
/var/log/maillog will have sendmail and ipop entries.
/var/log/secure will have entries if you've been turned away, etc.
/var/log/messages will have other, misc. entries that might give a clue.

Sometimes, MS doesn't behave in TCP/IP properly, and you get timeout mismatches,
so you could restart your linux network with  /sbin/service network restart
then try again from the outlook client.



>From your outlook computer, try telnet linux.box.etc 25 (that's the snmp port)
and if that works, try telnet linux.box.etc 110 (that's the pop port).

If telnet connects, then it's one of those MS problems, and I get one here
ocassionally on my internel ethernet.

I have installed the imap and pop daemons from the rpms available 
inside the linux CDROM and enabled them inside the 
/etc/xinetd.d/imap and ipop2 and ipop3.

Could it be becasue of the firewall settings onthe server ?
