RE: telnet problem

I don't know how to fix it, but I would never apply patches in random order using a for construct.  Especially a kernel patch.

up2date (Red Hat Update Agent) does the job properly but even with that I would be a little careful and not try to apply all the patches at once.  Perhaps you can use this regimen without up2date as well:

1. Patch up2date and anything else up2date includes when you select up2date
2. Patch Kernel and anything else up2date includes when you select the kernel
3. Patch everything else

Easiest fix since you just installed is a re-install.  Hopefully others with more Unix-sense than I will have a fix-it-in-place solution.

Hello,

After installing Red Hat 7.0 I applied the latest
kernel pathch and other patches by doing the
following:

for file in *.rpm
do
rpm -Fvh $file
done

The ones that are patchable were patched but when I
login in the console or telnet, I get no shell.  I can
ssh and see the login telnet session but no shell.  I
can ctrl C to get login prompt again.

Any ideas?
