Thanks for your response.  I thought it would be ok to
rpm all non-kernel rpms since the "F" freshen the
package if it can ie. no dependencies, etc.  The
kernel I updated separately.  I don't mind
reinstalling but I want to know what caused it to
begin with.  I will look into the up2date program and
hope this will make my life easier.  I will let you
know  if I find out what caused the telnet hangs.
