RE: RedHat Server 7.0 DOWN!

RedHat wouldn't support me because version 7 is too old and I didn't
already have an existing support contract. They told me when I upgrade
to 8 and purchase support, then I will be all set, even if it becomes a
deprecated product, as long as I already have support.

As for our issue, we finally got it fixed. We copied /sbin/init from
another Linux box, re-burnt my RH7.0 CD1 along with sysvinit.rpm. We
replaced the /sbin/init with our copied one using Linux Rescue, then
once we got it semi booted, we ran the sysvinit.rpm install and rebooted
and everything came up ship shape.

I want to thank everyone for their help. It was nice to have some
friendly support in my time of crisis.

Thanks.

First of all, why won't Red Hat support you?

Did you have an auto directory? Does it ask for the root password, and
does it say that you are in maintenance mode?
