RedHat 7.0 client to W2k Network

Hullo,
Im trying to connect a newly installed RedHat7 workstation to our local W2k Network. I have Adminrights for our Network but what am not sure is wether I got to create a similar user-account for RedHat, coz whenever I try to connect there is no respnose. Plez help a newbie out!
