You could configure it to only send when the recipient is local.  A quick 
and dirty way is to edit your sendmail.cf file, look for lines that look 
like:

Msmtp,          P=[IPC], F=mDFMuX, S=11/31, R=21, E=\r\n, L=990,
                T=DNS/RFC822/SMTP,
                A=IPC $h

and comment them out.  Your senders will receive an error message.  If you 
would like to be more kind, you can configure the mailer to send a nicely 
worded bounce message.
