Do you have a network card installed? If so, do you have drivers installed for
it? These days, most NIC drivers are loaded as modules. What is the make and
model of the NIC card? Assuming you have a module-based driver for it, it will
need to be loaded. You can edit /etc/modules.conf and enter a line in there
to setup the card. After a reboot you should be able to edit
/etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to setup
your networking and ethernet card specifics.
