Hi,

Am Ganesh from mascon global, Mexico.

My task is to Install Linux 7.0 and Install Oracle 8.1.7 on the Linux. here,Actually, i've installed Linux 7.0 (Intel Version) in a stand alone machine. but at the time installing, I didnt get the screen where i've to set the Host Name, IP Address info etc.... infact the installation guide says, if you dont have the network card in your system, you wont get the above screen and it'll go to next screen which is, Region settings.... so, it went the same way and the installation was also successful.

but after the installation, when i try to install oracle 8.1.7 on linux, it says, the DISPLAY is not set properly and it's not identified etc...... again we set the DISPLAY in the .bash_profile and again we ran the runInstaller of oracle. but still, again we got the same error mesg...

and if i ping some IP address from the linux machine, it says, NETWORK UNREACHABLE........ what's that? why it says like this? though we have proper network card and connections etc...

Then, i went and search google site, oracle metalink site, and red-hat site... but no use... then i got this web site and i've registered myself properly and am posting this query.

It's a very very urgent and important problem for us... please kindly help us in this regard like, where did i made the mistake? what exactly it requires etc...

we've also checked our network card and other hardware settings too... everythign is perfect and we are not able to Install it....

so, kindly let us know is there any Linux version problem or Linux compatibility problem etc....

how do we proceed this?... we are waiting for ur reply....

Thanx a lot ,

Ganesh.
