When I did that I rebooted from the CD and selected "upgrade" and
it didn't show any software - so I selected install, and then it asked me
to repartition the OS... (So i would have to do a complete reinstall
or better figure out how the installation program works..., which I 
couldn't).

It appears that reinstall may be the only option - I am installing RH8.0
