Why not use ssh instead? More secure and easier with public keys.

rsh service isn't running perhaps... use ssh.

Don't use rsh, rcp, telnet or rexec. These are all disabled on most modern
systems I have seen because they are notoriously insecure.

You can use ssh instead of rsh.
You can use scp instead of rcp.
Etc etc.
