I still see a leak, even with gnome-terminal from rawhide & vte-0.8.19. 
  I've found that anytime I start an application from the terminal, 
every bit of free memory gets used up real quick.

I've got a paid subscription to RHN and there hasn't been anything on 
up2date since the Xfree86 & glibc updates.  Seems the 8.0 release is 
just around the corner.
