I think the xmms plugin ABI is stable, there might be a gcc-3.2
issue similar to the kernel, but probably not. xmms would just
move to a new compiler, and not add all the compatibility cruft
the kernel has.

How would adding a plugin without using rpm mean giving
up rpm control? Aren't there other, non rpm plugins
available for xmms? I see this as no different than
browser plugins. Most of them aren't rpm controlled.
