Tuturials and code documentation is a real issue.  Has the gnome2 effort
made any progress and cleaning things up for you as a developer?

I thought the number of apps being developed by third parties was
swinging towards gnome and away from kde...thats just my impression of
what i notice on freshmeat day to day....but admittedly I haven't make
any effort to run any numbers.


Your comment about the lack of features in nautilus is kind of
ironic...considering nautilus was started by some oldschool mac
developers under eazel's banner...so i thought.  It was feature bloat at
the expense of speed and reliability initially.  And right now nautilus2
seems to have fewer features than what accumulated into nautilus for
gnome 1.4.  example smb:// as provided by gnome-vfs-extras is not in
gnome-vfs2-extras so it would seem...at least not yet.  But stuff like
smb:// and sftp:// url support in nautilus can't be too hard to put into
the gnome-vfs2 layer...which as far as I know is where nautilus and
other gnome fileio interfaces get their understanding of urls.  I don't
know if gnome-vfs2 is built around a plugin mentality...that would be
nice though so people could add protocals via individual plugins.The
ground work is there...but if its like you say and the developer docs
and tutorials are still in disarry thats definitely not a good thing for
gnome development community.
